Lent 6 (Palm Sunday) – Expectations Untied

John 19:16b–22 [John 12:12–27]

“Hosanna!” quickly becomes “Crucify!” Palm Sunday reveals how easily we project our expectations onto Jesus. This week names the binding of control—the desire for a Savior who fits our script.

Pilate’s sign declares, “What I have written, I have written,” while Jesus refuses to conform to the roles assigned to him. Following Christ requires surrendering our version of him and receiving the real One. We are shaped by Jesus, not the other way around.
